I'm Mingqi Hou — a senior full-stack engineer based in China, with 7+ years of experience shipping production web applications.
I work primarily with React, Vue, Next.js, Node.js, and TypeScript, and recently a lot of AI agents and LLM-powered tooling. I care about correctness, performance, and the maintainability of the code six months after it ships.
What I do
- Frontend: React, Vue, Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind, Vite, performance optimization (Core Web Vitals).
- Backend: Node.js (Express, Nest, tRPC), REST and GraphQL APIs, Postgres, Redis.
- AI: LLM integration, RAG with vector databases, AI agents, streaming UIs, prompt engineering.
- Architecture: Permission systems, configurable platforms, micro-frontends, monitoring and observability.
Typical freelance projects
- Integrate OpenAI / DeepSeek / Gemini into an existing React or Next.js app (streaming chat, BYOK)
- Design and implement RAG: loaders, chunking, embeddings, vector DB, evaluation
- Fix production frontend issues — SSR/hydration, INP, large lists, permission/RBAC UI
- Build or extend internal tools and dashboards (TypeScript, Node, FastAPI when needed)
How I work
- I prefer async, written communication. Clearer, faster, fewer bugs.
- I flag risks early rather than ship broken features.
- I write down what I learn — see /writing and /projects.
